Plan Overview
This plan combines probiotic foods (live fermented foods) with prebiotic fiber (the fuel those bacteria need) — the one-two punch for microbiome health. Each day delivers 30-40g of diverse fiber plus at least one fermented food.
Key principles:
- One fermented food daily (kefir, yogurt, kimchi, sauerkraut, or miso)
- Prebiotic fiber at every meal (garlic, onions, oats, bananas, legumes, asparagus)
- 30+ different plant foods across the week (diversity feeds diversity)
- Bone broth and ginger for gut lining support
- No artificial sweeteners or emulsifier-heavy processed foods
Start slow if you're new to high-fiber eating: increase portions gradually over 1-2 weeks and drink plenty of water to let your microbiome adapt comfortably.

Gut-Friendly Tips
- Add fermented foods gradually — start with 1-2 tbsp sauerkraut or kimchi, then increase over the week
- Don't cook your probiotics — add miso to soup after removing from heat; kimchi and sauerkraut stay raw
- Pair prebiotics with probiotics — the fiber feeds the live cultures, maximizing benefit
- Drink water — fiber without water causes constipation; aim for 8+ cups daily
- Some gas is normal — it's fermentation doing its job; it typically settles within 2-3 weeks
